Exploring Musical Summits
Guest artist: Peter Soave, bandoneón
Concert begins at 7:30 pm
We welcome you back to another season of the Riverside County Philharmonic. We open this year with Mozart’s famous and virtuosic “Haffner” Symphony – a work often reminiscent of his operas, and though there are no singers involved, if we close our eyes, we can easily imagine a scene from the Marriage of Figaro. Next on the program we have the Bandoneón Concerto of Astor Piazzolla played by world-renowned bandoneonist Peter Soave. This concerto, named Aconcagua after the highest mountain peak in the Americas, truly climbs to the highest expressive heights of the tango, for which Piazzolla was known. We end the program with Beethoven’s 7th Symphony, a work full of energy and depth that Beethoven himself considered as one of his best.
Mozart Symphony No. 35, “Haffner”
Piazzolla Aconcagua, Concerto for Bandoneón
Beethoven Symphony No. 7
