A Monstrous Film Festival of Horror

The RCC Film and Television Department is hosting its first horror film festival on Saturday, October 12, at 6:00 pm in Landis Auditorium.
Student filmmakers will showcase their gruesome and terrifying short films on the silver screen. The films will be screened in two blocks, followed by an awards ceremony.
“Our goal is to raise $5,000 that will be used for student scholarships and festival expenses.  I encourage you to support our program and prepare yourself for a night of spine chilling experiences,” said Bud Tedesco, RCC Film and Television director.
A private collection of art, costumes and regalia from Lon Chaney, Sr. and Lon Chaney, Jr., legendary horror film actors, will be on display.  Their careers collectively spanned over 100 years, with notable roles like the Phantom, Quasimodo, the Wolf Man, Frankenstein and the Mummy.  Special guest Ron Chaney is bringing his traveling exhibition of classic horror memorabilia.
The RCC Film and Television program trains students for careers in the film and television industry.
“The most important thing is that we want to turn out students who can be employed,” Tedesco said. One program alumnus is Clayton Sandell, who now works as a reporter for ABC News, Los Angeles. Many other students work in television production for MTV and KCET.  Other graduates have gone on to complete film studies at USC, Chapman, UCLA, CSU Northridge, and CSU Fullerton
For more information on the festival or the RCC Film and Television Department, go to http://www.rccfilm.com. Tickets are $8.50 each and can be purchased at Landis Auditorium Box Office, online at www.landispac.com, or by calling 222-8100. Film festival sponsorship opportunities are available. Parking is free.
